Fire extinguisher inspections and alarm service
for Park County and the Gallatin Valley.

Annual inspections, recharging, sales, and replacement for fire extinguishers. Smoke detector and CO alarm service for businesses, ranches, property managers, and homes. We track your due dates and call you before they're up — so you're never caught off guard by an inspection, and never have to chase it down.

Expired extinguishers and dead smoke detectors are the kind of problems you don't notice until they cost you.

Fire safety isn't complicated — but it's easy to let it slip when you're busy running a business or managing properties.

An expired extinguisher tag or a smoke detector with a dead battery doesn't announce itself. It sits there quietly until the inspector shows up — or until you actually need it. Either way, that's not when you want to find out.

If you run a restaurant, a retail shop, or an office in Park County, you're required to have current fire extinguisher inspections. If you manage vacation rentals or residential properties, your smoke detectors and CO alarms need to be working and up to code. And if you own a ranch with outbuildings and equipment, those extinguishers need to be serviced just like everything else.

The good news: staying compliant is straightforward when someone is keeping track of it for you. We handle the inspections, track the due dates, replace what needs replacing, and keep your paperwork in order. You don't have to think about it — we call you when it's time.

Not a service tech. An active firefighter.

There's a difference between knowing the NFPA code and knowing what happens when fire equipment fails when it matters.

The owner of Nordic Fire Defense is an active career firefighter, licensed paramedic, and military servicemember. He started Nordic Fire Defense because fire safety isn't an abstract compliance requirement to him — it's what he does. When he shows up to service your extinguishers, you're getting someone who knows from firsthand experience what fire equipment looks like when it works and what it looks like when it doesn't.

Nordic Fire Defense is a family operation, rooted in the community. His wife and daughters are part of it. He's been part of this area his whole life and has no plans to leave. He's not a regional company's technician rotating through the area. He's your neighbor — and he's not going anywhere.

Common questions

Quick answers to what people ask us most.

How often do fire extinguishers need to be inspected?
NFPA 10 requires a professional inspection at least once per year. We track due dates for every client and reach out about a month before your inspection is due — so you never have to remember or chase it down yourself.
What happens if I fail a fire inspection?
You'll get a correction notice with a deadline to fix the issues. The most common failures we see are expired extinguisher tags, missing or dead smoke detectors, and blocked exits. Most of these are quick fixes — give us a call and we can usually get you back in compliance within a few days.
How often should smoke detectors be replaced?
Smoke detectors should be replaced every 10 years, per NFPA 72. Batteries should be replaced at least once a year — more often in rental properties or buildings with higher turnover. We handle both battery swaps and full unit replacements.
Do you service ranches and rural properties?
Absolutely. Ranches are some of our favorite jobs. We serve rural properties throughout Park County, Gallatin County, and the surrounding area — distance isn't a problem for us.
Can you handle bulk inspections for property managers?
Yes. We work with property management companies and vacation rental operators across the area. We schedule bulk inspections across multiple properties, keep all your records organized, and make sure every unit stays compliant.
What areas do you serve?
We're based in Livingston, Montana and serve Park County, Gallatin County, and the surrounding area — including Bozeman, Big Sky, Gardiner, Belgrade, and everywhere in between.
